For the past years, the India Center has been active in organizing economical, political, cultural and social activities to improve Indo-Japan relations as part of our global platform.

Media outlets, such as movies, play an integral role in fostering a global partnership. To celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and India, the 100th anniversary of the Indo-Japan Association and the Independence Day of India, the India Center has organized the Indian Movie Festival, 2003.

Emperor of Peace Lends Asoka a Warm Hand by Akash Arora "According to me it's a great movie and is a big hit," asserts Shah Rukh Khan, After the special screening of Asoka at the Film Division Auditorium on Thursday evening, there the Tibetan leader, The Dalai Lama was the special guest. Priyanka Gandi, who doesn't "watch too many films" made a rare public appearance along with husband Robert Vadra. "I'm very happy that the Dalai Lama could make it to the screening of the film," says Khan. "I wanted him to see Asoka before it's release, so that he could bless us."

The Dalia Lama was impressed. "There are two things exceptionally good about Asoka. One is the depiction of India's history. And the other is the actor himself. I liked Shah Rukh's performance immensely."
